A Joyful Wedding at Gracelands Forresters Beach
Weddings are full of amazing moments, and this one was no exception. Jaylee and Paul’s big day at Gracelands Forresters Beach had everything—sunshine, laughter, and plenty of dancing.
I first met Jaylee, Paul, and Jaylee’s mum, Sheree, at a wedding open day. We had an instant connection. I was thrilled when they chose me to capture their wedding.
The Style They Wanted
Jaylee and Paul wanted mostly candid photos, which suits me perfectly. I love documenting a wedding as it naturally unfolds. Of course, we still included essential portraits and family photos. But the magic is always in those real, unscripted moments. Gracelands Forresters Beach provided the perfect backdrop for their fun, relaxed vibe.
Their Story
These two met in a “typical” way but, as Jaylee says, “Not Tinder!” Living three hours apart, they messaged for six months before meeting. Their first date lasted hours, and from then on, they knew they’d found their person. Over time, they faced big challenges together, which only strengthened their bond. Nicky Meale shared this during their ceremony, and she’s definitely my kind of person—funny, upbeat, and guaranteed to keep her ceremonies entertaining! Jaylee was walked down the aisle with her son Josh and Paul had the sweetest look as he watched them walk down the aisle.
Sunshine at Gracelands
The week before the wedding brought constant rain. But on their wedding day, the sun finally shone. They could enjoy Gracelands’ lovely outdoor space. I’ve photographed many weddings here, and it’s always a favourite. The venue is ideal for smaller guest lists, with friendly staff who truly care. A big thanks to Catie, who always makes everyone feel welcome.
Why I Loved This Wedding
As a Central Coast wedding photographer, I always notice when I instantly click with a couple. With Jaylee and Paul, it felt like photographing friends. Being trusted to capture their day meant so much. From the family and friend moments before the ceremony until after their incredible choreographed first dance! Must give a shoutout to Your First Dance Co!
Unique Touches
Jaylee and Paul added fun twists to tradition. Instead of a bouquet toss, they did a “shirt toss.” At first, I thought Paul was throwing his clothes, but no—it was printed shirts. Guests loved it!
They also created a giant crossword filled with clues about themselves. By the end of the night, it was all filled in. What a fabulous keepsake. I also loved the effort they went to to honour loved ones passed with their photos on display.
Fun and Laughter
Jaylee wanted playful, cheeky shots. We tried the Instagram-inspired “skip” photo. She did it with her sister, and later with Paul. Honestly, Paul enjoyed it more than he admitted! The photos show pure joy and are some of my favourites. I absolutely made some of the family do some crazy poses – I knew how much Jaylee and Paul wanted to embrace lots of fun on their day.
We also captured shots at the bar, glow sticks lighting up the dancefloor, and Paul’s dad absolutely owning it with his moves. Not to be outdone, Paul’s mum showed she had plenty of moves too. Their family and friends filled the night with energy, laughter, and love.
A Day to Remember
Jaylee and Paul’s Gracelands wedding was packed with personality, fun, and heartfelt moments. As their Gracelands photographer, I feel grateful to have shared their incredible day.
