Over the years I’ve done quite a few home weddings and if you have a lovely backyard like Anton’s parents’ home in East Maitland – it makes sense to have it there. 

After being a bridesmaid in two weddings I’ve photographed, it was time for this beautiful girl Katie to be the bride, and next to her stood her lovely friends Jodie, Jess and Pru whose wedding I photographed last year. Going off Pru’s wedding, I knew I was in for a brilliant day. After capturing the excitement of the preparations with the girls and some photos with Mum and Dad,  I headed over to Anton’s parent’s home, welcomed in by Mum Lianne and Dad Anton Senior as the guests were starting to arrive. 

Anton had his cousins Mike and Bianca standing by his side and definitely time for a quick toast before the ceremony.  Celebrant Sonya Harman got these two married including a ring blessing, personal vows and telling the love story of Anton and Katie. 

Off to a lovely park in Morpeth and the photographer got all excited by that golden hour light! The bridal party had a beverage or a few, and perhaps went a little rogue but this is what I love about weddings. I love seeing the couple celebrate and have fun during this part of the day. It’s my favourite thing to capture people cracking up laughing and having genuine smiles and expressions. 

I was at the reception just to capture the first dance and left these guys to enjoy the evening. The first dance song – amazing! Picture everyone up dancing to it. Bob Seger’s Roll Me Away. I asked Katie what made them choose that song as it’s an oldie and she said ‘Anton asked me to dance to this song’. If you haven’t heard it – listen to it. 

Katie and Anton – keep dancing and smiling and having fun. You guys go off the charts in front of my camera and I absolutely loved it! You’re antics and craziness make me go a little snap happy on the camera’s shutter button cause I don’t want to miss any of it.
