Harry & Ella – A Ravella Newcastle Wedding Filled with Heart and Light
Some weddings feel like a whirlwind in the best way possible. Harry and Ella’s wedding day was one of those beautifully relaxed days where I wasn’t there from dawn till dancefloor. But I still left with my heart full and memory cards packed with moments that mattered.
These two have a love story that starts in the most unexpected of places, Macca’s! They were best friends for years before becoming a couple, and you could feel that foundation of friendship in every glance.
Ella got ready at Noah’s on the Beach, along with her Mum Penny and friend Pearl. I was booked to capture portraits of Ella completely ready—none of the pre-wedding prep, and I have to say, that suits me just fine. Ella looked absolutely stunning, and those blue eyes that run in the family, wow! Zoe Shaw Makeup did the perfect job! The natural light in the beautifully decorated reception room was ideal for portraits. I also captured some lovely moments with Ella’s family before we made our way to the ceremony.
Ravella Newcastle
The ceremony was held at Ravella Newcastle, a grand old church that’s been converted into one of the most stunning venues in the area. High ceilings and heritage charm, and so much character. It’s this kind of building that makes me love being a Newcastle Wedding Photographer. If you haven’t seen Ravella yet, it’s well worth a look, it’s quickly becoming a favourite for weddings in Newcastle. And I have to give a special shout-out to Taylor, the lovely host who ensured everything ran smoothly and made everyone feel welcome.
Rachel McBride officiated the ceremony, and she was brilliant. She told Harry and Ella’s story with so much warmth and humour, weaving together their journey from fast food shifts to forever. It was the kind of ceremony that had everyone smiling (and a few happy tears too).
After the ceremony, we took time for hugs, congratulations, and some family and friends photos. Then I snuck Harry and Ella outside for a few portraits and luck would have it, the earlier rain had cleared. But the wind had its own plans and Ella’s dress and veil were flying everywhere. I encouraged them to embrace it. Those spontaneous, windswept moments are always my favourites and generally end up being the couples favourite too.
Though I wasn’t booked for extended coverage and wasn’t there for the reception, it’s a reminder that shorter wedding coverage doesn’t mean less magic. I’m really loving these days where I capture just a slice of the celebration. It’s focused, meaningful, and still tells the full story.
Harry and Ella, thank you for trusting me to be a part of your day. Your joy, your friendship, and your relaxed, wind-blown love made this wedding one to remember.
